Session 6 · Phase 2, Core Skills
AI for Visuals: Flyers, Images & Slides
AI makes you a good-looking flyer in a minute. But it adds words you never said, and it leaves some out. Every line is yours to check.
Saturday, October 24, 2026 · French 10:00, English 11:00, Dallas time (16:00 and 17:00 Kinshasa, 17:00 and 18:00 Lubumbashi, 17:00 and 18:00 Paris, 11:00 and 12:00 Eastern, 8:00 and 9:00 Pacific) · Zoom
Just arriving? No problem. You need a few notes about an event, and an AI assistant, any of them. This page shows you the rest.
Could not make it live? Watch one of the videos below, do the homework, and join us next Saturday. October 31 is the last day to join and still reach 10 sessions out of 16.

What you take away
By the end of this class, you know how to…
- 1
Turn your notes into the text of a flyer a short title, short lines, your dates, times, names and address kept exactly.
- 2
Ask for the picture, with or without text the format, the style, the colours; and know when it is better to type the words yourself.
- 3
Check every line before you post your notes on one side, the flyer on the other, out loud: what was added, what is missing.
The live demos
The mothers' lunch flyer
Maman Grâce is a fictional character, the same as in earlier classes. This time she is organising her church's mothers' lunch: Saturday November 14, 2026, noon to 3 pm, at the Lisanga Church of Dallas, 2417 Lisanga Street. The church and the address are made up too. Her notes are in a jumble, with no price and no phone number: [phone] instead.
- 1
The notes become the text (6.1)
In the French class, in Gemini, in a temporary chat, on a free account, Angel pasted Grâce's notes, then prompt 6.1. The flyer text came back in seconds: a title, short lines, the date, the times, the address, the menu, the languages, and "Infos : Maman Grâce [téléphone]". Against the notes, nothing was invented. A few words were only reworded: "de midi" (from noon) became "De 12h00", and "on ouvre la porte" (we open the door) became "Ouverture des portes" (doors open).
- 2
The flyer, in one minute (6.2, version A)
Then prompt 6.2: a portrait flyer, joyful, in yellow and green, with exactly this text, changing nothing and adding nothing. A minute later, a good-looking flyer: the accents right, the full menu, no invented phone number, and leaves, flowers and music notes around it.
- 3
In English, with ChatGPT
In the English class, the same notes, in English, in ChatGPT. The temporary chat refused to make the picture, so Angel moved to a normal chat. ChatGPT's flyer added section headings, emojis, and "but optional" after the free-will contribution. It left out "for those who wish". The [phone] stayed in place.
Two things Grâce never wrote
On Gemini's flyer, the title became "#Repas des Mamans", with a "#" nobody asked for. And the contribution line reads "contribution libre pour pour ceux qui veulent": "pour" (for), twice. Angel asked Gemini what it had added or changed. Gemini itself named the hashtag, the icons, and the repeated "pour".
That is exactly the lesson: a good-looking flyer can carry one word too many. You are the one who reads every line.
Same prompt, two AIs
Before the demo, a side-by-side slide: the same request, the poster for this very class, made by ChatGPT and by Gemini. On Gemini's, the more artistic one, words nobody asked for were painted into the picture: "Messy notes" on one sheet, "L'IA pour flyer" on another. They are boxed on the slide. Two AIs, two styles, and the same rule: you check.
Alain's homework
Alain had already made his flyer with Gemini, and posted it himself in the group on Friday. Angel mentioned it in class without showing it: good work, simple and precise. But the day of the week was missing. The date was there, not the weekday. And if the day is not written, someone will turn up on a Saturday for a party planned on a Wednesday. That is check number 3.
Your turn
The same path, for your event: 6.1 for the text, 6.2 for the picture, then the six checks of 6.3, yourself, out loud.
The four prompts, with copy buttonsVersion B, step by step
Your own words on a picture with no text
In class, version B was not made live: it was only described, and some of you said in the chat that you do not know Canva. Here it is in a few moves. Use the tool you already have: Canva and Google Slides are free, PowerPoint if you have it.
First the picture: prompt 6.2, version B, with no text at all. Download it to your phone or your computer.
Canva
Free app on your phone, or canva.com
- 1
"Create a design", then the Poster size, or any portrait size.
- 2
Upload your picture, put it on the page and stretch it to the edges.
- 3
Text, then "Add a text box". Paste the 6.1 text, choose the size and the colour.
- 4
Share, then Download: PNG for WhatsApp, PDF for the printer.
PowerPoint
On a computer, or PowerPoint on the web
- 1
Design, then Slide Size: choose Portrait.
- 2
Insert, then Pictures: choose your picture and stretch it over the whole slide.
- 3
Insert, then Text Box: paste the 6.1 text.
- 4
File, then Save As: PNG for WhatsApp, PDF for printing.
Google Slides
Free with a Google account, easier on a computer
- 1
File, then Page setup: choose a portrait size.
- 2
Insert, then Image: upload your picture and stretch it over the whole page.
- 3
Insert, then Text box: paste the 6.1 text.
- 4
File, then Download: PNG for WhatsApp, PDF for printing.
Then check it with 6.3, as always: a pasted word can be pasted wrong too. In class, Angel showed the same idea in Adobe Express, on his own poster: the words added by hand, on top of the picture.
Before you practise
Three things to have at hand
If you are watching the video instead of the live class, get these ready first.
Your notes for an event
What, which day, what time, where, for whom, what will happen, who to contact. A jumble is fine. The phone number you will add yourself.
An AI assistant that makes pictures
Gemini works well on a free account. Free ChatGPT may limit the number of pictures per day, and its temporary chat does not make pictures. Claude writes the text very well, but does not draw pictures.
Canva, PowerPoint or Google Slides
Optional: to type your own words on a picture with no text. Version B is explained above, step by step.

This week's homework · October 25 to 31
Make a flyer for a real event, then check every line
An event of your own: a party, a meeting, a church service, a training. 6.1 for the text, first:
I am making a flyer for [the event]. Here are my notes: [paste your notes: what, which day, what time, where, for whom, what will happen, who to contact]. Write the text of the flyer, in [language]: a short title, then only the useful information, in short lines. Keep my dates, times, names and address exactly as they are. Add no price, no name, no number. For the phone, write [phone]: I will add it myself.
- 1
Then 6.2 for the picture. Version A with the text, or version B with no text, and your words typed on top.
- 2
Check it with the six checks of 6.3, your notes beside you, out loud.
- 3
On Saturday, tell us one thing the AI added or forgot. Keep the flyer on your phone: Session 7 is AI in your pocket.
What never goes on a flyer
Someone else's photo. A logo that is not yours. A phone number you do not want to make public. A flyer travels, and you cannot call it back.
In the group: the kind of event, and one thing the AI added or forgot. If you post the flyer, only with what you want to make public.
After class
The videos
This Saturday both classes were held: French from 10:00 to 11:19, then English until 12:04, Dallas time. Four videos: for each language, the highlights and the full class.
The English class, 11:00
Highlights, in English
9 minChat or Codex for a novice, Claude that does not draw pictures, the hands in a video, Maman Grâce's notes in ChatGPT, the temporary chat that refuses, diffusion, two AIs, reading every line, saying what the flyer is for, and the homework.
The full class, in English
41 minThe whole English class, questions included: Dr. Muswamba's question, chat or Codex, vision and image generation, the hands in an event video, Maman Grâce's flyer in ChatGPT, and adding the words yourself in Adobe Express. Dead air was cut.
The French class, 10:00 (in French)
Highlights, in French
11 minA wrong date and nobody comes, the same flyer in three AIs, the Télé Zaïre snow and the painted number, same prompt and two AIs, Maman Grâce's flyer read line by line, what Gemini says it added, the six checks, and the homework.
The full class, in French
78 minThe whole French class, questions included: the opening by Patrick Dekale, how AI draws, your questions, the demo with Gemini, the line-by-line check, the six checks and the homework. Dead air was cut.
The videos are on YouTube. Personal screens are blurred and a few passages were cut. Maman Grâce, the Lisanga Church of Dallas and its address are made up.
What was taught
Session 6 in five ideas
- 1
The words first
You do not start with the picture. Your notes, even in a jumble, become the flyer text. Your dates, times, names and address stay exactly yours; the phone number you add yourself.
- 2
AI paints the letters, it does not write them
An image model starts from noise, like the Télé Zaïre snow, and cleans it up until a picture appears. Letters and digits are painted like everything else: a phone number can come out wrong, a word can appear.
- 3
With the text on it, it adds and it leaves out
A "#" in the title, a doubled "pour", "but optional" added, "for those who wish" left out. Nothing serious, but none of it is what you wrote.
- 4
With no text, the words stay yours
Version B: a picture with no text at all, and you type the 6.1 words yourself in Canva, PowerPoint or Google Slides.
- 5
The six checks, out loud
Added and missing, every word, the date and the weekday, the time and the address, names and phone, nothing extra. On a realistic picture, look at the hands, the legs and the teeth too. No real face, no logo that is not yours.
"Free-will contributions welcome, but optional."
The sentence to keep
AI makes you a good-looking flyer in a minute; but it adds words you never said, and it leaves some out, so every line is yours to check.
And the six checks, before you print, post or send: added and missing, every word, the date, the time and the address, names and phone, nothing extra.
